Here, the stars are shining brighter than ever and it happens to be a cosmopolitan place, where the most spoken second language is Spanish. Yes, if you know English already, good for you. You have to, but if you want to make a difference you gotta consider Spanish lessons to your portfolio. More specifically the Mexican style. The United States of America is the second country after Mexico (of course) hosting more Mexicans. It’s our second home officially, not even Spain. There is a huge audience constantly increasing yearly in the movie's presence. So, if these facts are not enough for you to sign up for private Spanish tutoring, here are three strong reasons to reconsider. First of all, movies that include a few lines in Spanish coming from English speakers tend to stand out. Acting in a Mexican production is as good as doing it for Hollywood. Finally, effort always wins people's hearts, and Mexicans would love to hear you trying.
“Hasta la vista, baby” a single line in a classic movie was the markup for a generation. Nowadays, people still wear that phrase on shirts, and it has become an iconic line that everybody wants to say it. Spanish is cool, and Mexicans are so romantic when it comes to language. “Vaya con Dios” is another line currently used in movies, and it’s hilarious when English speakers use it. When it comes to movies, the film is meant to capture your attention and wrap you up within the story by bringing you a lot of emotions. Sporadic Spanish lines stay in people’s minds, and Mexicans never forget the inclusion. When big productions consider the second biggest audience in their movies, it’s a doubtless success.
Plenty of Mexican film directors have been crushing it through these years. The Mexican quality in movies is still escalating, therefore it’s a good idea to learn it. If you’re an actor from any part of the world, you’re probably aiming for Hollywood. Everybody does it, if not they should. Then, if for some personal reasons, or living conditions, or whatever you don’t make it or like it, Mexican productions are a really well paid option to consider. TV novels, and cinema will always be a form of entertainment for everybody. It’s our disconnecting time to dive into another fictional reality. A moment to forget about our lives, and live another story through the big screen. It is a production of a masterpiece that started with a writer and evolved to employ many talented people. It’s the valuable seventh art available for all of us to enjoy.
Finally, a way to earn a Mexican heart is just by trying. These people are pure love, and they are applauding effort more than anything else. This culture is about “Echarle huevos” (Make a great effort) on everything you do. We don’t care about accents, we care about you. When artists, and singers are showing an effort to understand our culture, they become heroes for us. We want more from them. A special mention, Lady Gaga for me is a hero. Very well done with her speech in Mexico city. Her talent is enough, and she really didn’t need to do anything extraordinary. But, she goes beyond, and that is how she won many Mexican’s hearts including mine.
In conclusion, learning a few lines in Spanish is better than knowing nothing. Mexican productions could be a path for you to explore in your career. Spanish speakers are a huge audience with money, and they are going for the ones who try. Like Ms. Johnson once said; “Learning is fun”. Give it a try for Spanish lessons. You’re only going to end up either loving this romance language or with some bad words just in case you need them. Both are useful, you'll see.
